When it comes to being a community partner, DOT Foods is at the leading edge. Recently, the food distribution center in Vidalia made a $6,000 donation to the Vidalia Fire Department, providing funds that will enable the lifesaving entity to purchase items necessary if decontamination is necessary during a call.

Vidalia Fire Chief Brian Sikes said the Fire Department and DOT Foods have been working on the project for a while, and he was pleased to see it come to fruition.

“We train with DOT, and I’m pleased that they see the value in supporting the work of the department.”

Tim Truxel is the local manager of DOT Foods and explains why the company made the sizeable donation.

“DOT Foods always likes to give back to the community in which we have live and work,” Truxel said. “That’s why we like to donate to the community and support it in any way we can.”

Chief Sikes said the trailer in which the equipment the $6,000 purchased was donated by an anonymous source, and the graphics on the side of the trailer were also created and applied by a local company at no charge to the Fire Department.
