The Treutlen Vikings traveled to Rochelle Thursday night and remain winless on the season as they were defeated 56-6 by the Patriots of Wilcox County. The Vikings fall to 0-6 on the season as the Patriots evened their record at 3-3.
Wilcox County scored on the opening possession when running back Dayshawn Lawson ran it in from a yard out to take the early lead. The PAT by Johnny Nutt was good and the Patriots led 7-0 with 9:19 left in the first quarter.
The Vikings responded by driving down the field quickly on their first possession only to have the drive halted by penalties after having a first and goal from the 1-yard line.
The Viking defense held the potent Patriot attack in check for the rest of the first quarter and most of the second quarter until Wilcox County scored three touchdowns on scoring passes from quarterback Abe Stowe in the final five minutes prior to halftime to take a 29-0 advantage into the break.
Wilcox County struck again quickly in the third quarter when Stowe hit University of Tennessee commit BJ Gibson on a 50-yard touchdown pass with 10:41 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT by Nutt was good and Wilcox County led 36-0.
The Vikings got on the board at the 6:30 of the third quarter when quarterback Kolby McLendon scored on a 5-yard run. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, making the score 36-6.
The Patriots added three more touchdowns in the third quarter on a 10-yard run by Gibson, a 61-yard run by CJ McAdoo, and a 70-yard pass from Stowe to Gibson, extending the lead to 56-6. There was no scoring in the final quarter.
