Vidalia Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are working a case involving a shooting of a man Tuesday afternoon. Chief James Jermon reports that officers responded to 211 West Pine Street around 2:30 where they found Eric Turner so injured that an ambulance took him directly to Air Evac where the was transferred to a Savannah hospital. As of Wednesday afternoon, he his listed in critical but stable condition.
Kendell Wilcox was identified as the suspected shooter, but Wilcox had fled the scene in his 2019 Nissan Sentra. The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle at 106 Pine Street, but Wilcox again fled with officers and deputies in pursuit. Deputies employed stop sticks at Center Drive and Clydette Boulevard, but Wilcox came to voluntary stop before running over the sticks. He was arrested and booked into the Toombs County Detention Center.
