Helen Dixon

Mrs. Helen Dixon, age 78, of Vidalia, died Monday, September 19, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Blackshear and was a 1962 graduate of Blackshear High School.  She lived in Baxley for several years before moving to Toombs County in 1986.  She worked at Ship & Shore in Baxley and Savannah Luggage Works for many years, and retired from Meridy’s Uniform in Vidalia.  Mrs. Dixon was a member of Calvary on Aimwell; and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.  Preceding her death was her husband, Delaney Dixon; father, Isam Aldridge; mother, Rilla Crawford Aldridge; three brothers, R.I. Aldridge, Harvey Aldridge, and Jerry Aldridge; two sisters, Margaret Champion and Lillian Aldridge; and a special friend, Isabel Harden.

Her family includes four children, Dale Dixon and wife Gail, Brenda Spell and husband Dwain, all of Baxley, Leonard Dixon and wife Michelle of Vidalia, and Renee Crews and husband Brad of Hazlehurst; one stepson, Jackie Dixon and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Krista Stone and husband Michael, Tommy Spell and wife Traci, Logan Dixon and wife Kendra, Sierra McCall and husband Dalton, Storm Dixon, Seth Crews, Eric Dixon, Luke Stone, and Haley Watkins; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorrine Higginbotham of Jacksonville, Florida, Betty Turner of Baxley, and Terry Francis of Leesville, South Carolina; two brothers, J.B. Aldridge of Louisville, Kentucky and Earl Aldridge of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 21st, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Efton Green officiating.  Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Justin McLellan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service, and as a family will gather at the home of a son, Leonard and Michelle, 290 Ridgewood Ct., Vidalia, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
