On Monday the Toombs County Lady Dogs defeated the Wheeler County Bulldogs 9-1 in Lyons.
Toombs County got things moving in the first inning, when Shay Stringer doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Toombs County tallied four runs in the third inning. Emerson Powell and Riley Lumley all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Casey Cantwell was the winning pitcher for Toombs County. The right-hander lasted five and a third innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out five. Krista Cantwell threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
McCranie was on the rubber for Wheeler County. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over five and a third innings, striking out one.
Toombs County racked up 11 hits on the day. Aniston Powell, Lumley, and Cantwell each had multiple hits for Toombs. Powell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Toombs County in hits.
