Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home announces the death of Bernestine Garnes, age 85 of Uvalda, GA who entered Eternal Rest on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, GA. 

Bernestine Garnes was born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, June 3, 1937, to the late James (Jimmy) Frank and Lady Bell (Bee) Martin.

Bernestine attended the Montgomery County schools, and she became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

Bernestine retired from Alcon in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Garnes, two sons, Charlie F. Hall and George D. Telfair, and two brothers, James F. Martin and James Williams.

Her memories will always be cherished by her lovely children, Brenda D. Hall of Uvalda, Georgia, Dale E. Bennett (Charlie S. Bennett) of Hazlehurst, Georgia, John W. Telfair of Mount Vernon, Georgia, Cathy L. Telfair of Uvalda, Georgia, and Shirley R. Johnson of Decatur, Georgia; precious grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one living aunt, Minnie Lee Hall; special daughter, Janice McKinnon; special cousin, Mary Royal; special friend, James Wilcox; special sister-in-law, Annie Rose Garnes; other sisters- in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 2 PM until 6 PM at Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home in Lyons, GA.  

Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Old Salem Cemetery in Longpond, GA.  Rev. Douglas Stanley will deliver the Eulogy.  

Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Bernestine Garnes.
