Lyons resident Linda McDilda tells of her journey as a cancer survivor and why she volunteers her time to serve other cancer patients at the local cancer center.
Low Country Cancer Care has joined with the Tommy and Shirley Strickland Cancer Center at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital to further enhance the comprehensive care area cancer patients receive.
An open house was held Tuesday afternoon with representatives from both entities expressing their support and dedication to the local community.
Memorial Health Meadows Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Matt Hasbrouck, said, “This is bringing care closer to home at its finest. We will have a network that brings cancer treatment expertise that we may not have had access to before and I’m excited that Low Country and our cancer center will be here to care for this great community.”
Hasbrouck said the cancer center will have five oncologist coordinating their time in Vidalia, as well as advanced practitioners in cancer care. In addition, the medical facility will be recruiting an additional oncologist who will work full time in Vidalia.
