The Toombs County Grand Jury recently convened and was presented 15 cases to consider for indictment by the office of Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tripp Fitzner, and the Grand Jurors returned all as true bills meaning they believe there was enough evidence presented to charge the individuals with crimes.
Many of the indictments included possession of drugs or drug-related charges. But there were also cases of aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children associated with domestic violence.
Other cases of indictment included burglaries, thefts, and robberies.
A particular indictment included seven counts of mistreating an animal to the point that the dog died. According to the indictment, between February 20, 2020, and March 1, 2020, Melissa Robinson and Timmy Robinson neglected to provide appropriate care in the form of food, water and sanitary conditions for a dog and both were indicted on one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, and six counts of cruelty to animals.
