How It Happened
Faulkner produced a hit in each of the first four innings of play while leaving runners in scoring position for the opening three innings. Fortunately for the Barons, Faulkner was unable to cross the dish as BPC managed to battle defensively.
Trey Jones started on the bump for Brewton-Parker and pitched for six innings. While on the mound, Jones tossed seven strikeouts and walked four batters while allowing five hits and two earned runs. Unfortunately, the Eagles managed to post two runs on the scoreboard off a two-run homer to capture the lead in the sixth inning which retired Jones’ time on the hill.
The Barons managed to finally produce a hit in the bottom of the seventh inning as Jordan Rahn connected for a single to left field. BPC left two runners on base as Faulkner’s lead remained unscathed.
During the eighth, Taz Worrell singled to left field for the Barons’ second hit of the night but was unable to advance beyond first after getting put out on a 6-4-3 double play.
Faulkner was able to jump out to a 6-0 lead in the ninth inning after producing three hits which included a grand slam. Brewton-Parker managed to notch just one base hit from Eduardo Castillo, but that was all the Barons could put together.
Matt Hager finished out the night, pitching for the final three innings. He gave up four earned runs on three hits. In addition, he struck out six batters and walked three.
