Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Auxiliary recently attended the Council on Volunteer Services Georgia Health Care Conference for Southeast District at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler. The March 8 event, sponsored by Georgia Hospital Association and comprised of auxiliary representatives from 11 different hospitals, included round table discussions on fundraising for hospital and community projects, recruiting new volunteers for the organization, and a memorial to honor those who had passed away.  Speakers from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office also spoke about and how to prevent scams. “The conference was a time to connect with old friends, meet some new friends, learn some fresh ideas, and enjoy the day,” said Lisa Parker, Meadows Auxiliary President. “COVS President Cathy Hefner also addressed volunteers with a message entitled “Now and Future” about how auxiliaries are positioned for growth.”

Parker added, “Meadows Auxiliary is definitely in a position for growth. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were shut down and unable to volunteer for 14 months. We have been back in service now for nine month and are always looking for volunteers.”

Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Auxiliary is currently seeking volunteers to provide services that enhance the patient and family experience. Volunteers must be willing to commit to serve a minimum of 4 1/2 hours per month for a minimum of 6 months, or 100 hours per year. Hours and days are flexible to fit each volunteer’s lifestyle and training is provided. Volunteers are also required to attend at least two of the general membership meetings, which do not include dinners. Volunteers are also invited to participate in many of the discount programs offered to employees. In addition, there are many areas throughout the hospital where volunteers can provide service to make a difference.
