Mrs. Melvis W. Davis, age 90, of Uvalda, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Pierce County and moved to Toombs County in the mid 1950s. She was a homemaker, and was an active member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and the Smyrna Ladies Club. She enjoyed quilting and was always involved in her community. Preceding her in death was her husband, George H. Davis; an infant daughter, parents, Ephfriam Howell Wasdin and Mildred Mary Wasdin; one sister, Donnie Wasdin Austin; and two brothers, J.H. Wasdin and Buck Wasdin.
Her family includes three children, Lynda Foskey and husband Randal of Alston, Larry Davis and wife Janice of Uvalda, and Alicia Rollins and husband Randy of Cedar Crossing; one sister, Claudine Wasdin Chesser of Ludowici; grandchildren, Julie Palmer and husband Jeffry of Vidalia, Craig Foskey and wife Kim of Higgston, Brad Davis and Priscilla Sikes of Uvalda, Melanie Bowen and husband Brandon of Vidalia, Ashley Fowler and husband Will of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Justin Rollins and wife Cierra of Lyons; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday, February 4th, at 2:00 p.m. at Smyrna United Methodist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 12:30 until just prior to the service.
