Dr. Dale Enoch Callaway, 67, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at his second home in Smyrna, Georgia. He was a long-time resident of Lyons, Georgia. He was a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was lovingly known as “Dr. Dale” and “Grandpa Dale”.
Dr. Dale was born on March 3, 1954, in Statesboro, Georgia. He grew up in Pembroke, Georgia, and graduated from Bryan County high school. He then attended Mercer University and Georgia State University followed by Life University College of Chiropractic Medicine. He was passionate about chiropractic medicine and achieved additional certifications in his area of expertise. Dr. Dale was a board-certified chiropractic specialist practicing at Lakeside Chiropractic Wellness Center until his passing. He was passionate about helping people, singing, building, and gardening. He loved spending time with his wife, Gloria, working out in the yard and around the house. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.
He is preceded by Enoch Callaway (father), Mildred Boyette Callaway (mother), June Mildred Callaway (sister), Philip Craig Sapp (nephew), James Mark Callaway (brother), Earnest Cleon Callaway (brother), Jim Walsh (brother-in- law), Billy Fanning (brother-in-law). Surviving is his loving wife Gloria Mize-Callaway, Dr. Heather Sheppard-Tillman (stepdaughter), three daughters from a previous marriage; Holly Callaway Edge and husband Sam, Christi Lyn Ballagh and husband Brian, Sarah Dale Callaway, siblings; Carolyn Walsh, Wanda Fanning, Shelba Davis, Roy Davis (brother-in-law), Stephen M Sapp (nephew), grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon, Katie, Kaylee, Ava, Braydon, Isabella, Presley, Jasper, Conor; great grandchildren, Ian, Aiden, and Alaina, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Collins Chapel Cemetery in Lyons, Georgia, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 pm.
Interment will be in the Collins Chapel Cemetery in Lyons, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Guido Evangelistic Association, Metter, Georgia, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
