Police in Lyons have made and arrest of a student at Toombs County High School after a weapon was found in the teen’s possession.

According to Lyons Chief of Police Wesley Walker and Superintendent Barry Waller, two other students were suspicious that the person had a weapon and notified the administration immediately. Within minutes of the notification, the School Resource Officer and staff of the school had confiscated the weapon and the student was arrested.

The school was put into a lockdown as a precaution, but Chief Walker said there was no threat to anyone at the school after the incident.

Chief Walker did say, however, that the investigation into the weapons possession is continuing and he believes there may be more arrests forthcoming.

The student arrested is a juvenile and therefore, that student’s name is not being released.
