120421 WWrestle at Patriot Duals Day Two

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. –Brewton-Parker Women’s Wrestling closed out completion at the Patriot Duals on Saturday with a third-place finish in the championship bracket.

The Lady Barons split the day with a 1-1 record for the third-place finish, closing out the duals with a 5-2 overall record.

Brewton-Parker opened the day with a 45-5 loss to Campbellsville Black (Ky.), forcing the Lady Barons to the third-place match. In the opening match, BPC began with a forfeit at the 101 class to Gabrielle Medeiros to go down 5-0. Alyssa Valdivia earned Brewton-Parker’s only five points via a forfeit to even the match at 5-5 after the 109 division.

During the 116 bout, Hayden Varner fell to Kelsey Bilz by fall (1:01) to go down 10-5 in the match. Geneva Winston followed in the 123-lb bout with a loss via fall (2:26) to Anna Rusth, moving the score to 15-5 in favor of Campbellsville. Leilah Castro took down Katlynn Neal in the 130-lb class with a pin (1:55) to give the Tigers another five points in the match. At 136, Sydney Allman fell to Julian Baugher via fall (0:20), dropping five match points.

Emma Walker defeated Kamryn Ellis with a pin (0:16) in the 143-lb bout to advance to a 30-5 lead. At 155, Alivia Myers lost to Kendra Thompson via fall (1:34), dropping another five points in the match. Sierra Hartfelder was defeated by Cassandra Smith in the 170-lb bout with a fall (0:51) to go down 40-5 in the match. The Tigers earned a final five points in the 191 bout via a forfeit to Liliana Vergara to win 45-5, knocking the Lady Barons to the third-place dual.

After falling to Campbellsville, Brewton-Parker took on Eastern Oregon in the third-place match to cap off day two. The Lady Barons defeated the Mountaineers 28-13 to secure the victory. The dual opened with a double forfeit from both sides followed by a pin (0:30) from Valdivia (109) over Nayeli Flores Roque to give BPC a 5-0 lead.

At 116, Stephanie Blankenship downed Varder with an 8-0 decision to earn three points for the Mountaineers. Burgos picked up a win by forfeit in the 123 slot, giving BPC a 10-3 lead. Leidaly Rivera gathered a 10-0 tech fall win over Morgan Shines to earn four points for the Lady Barons in the 130-lb division.

Jorie Richardson followed at 136 with a fall (3:32) over Krystal Fabricante, picking up five more points. In the 143 bout, Mel Mercado picked up an 11-0 tech fall victory over Nayeli Maston, earning another four points for BPC. India Page closed out the scoring for Brewton-Parker in the 155 bout winning via fall (0:21) to earn the final five points to lead 28-3 in the match. Eastern

Oregon finished the dual with falls in the 170 and 191 bouts. Alivia Myers was dropped with a fall (0:53) at 170 with Sierra Harfelder losing via fall (0:18) at 191 to make the final dual score 28-13 in favor of the Lady Barons.

Brewton-Parker moves to 6-2 on the season in dual action and are set to return to competition at the Warrior Open/Duals hosted by Indiana Tech on Dec. 10-11.
