Two inmates at the McRae Correctional Facility have been charged with assault on an officer or employee according to the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, David Estes.
Juan Alvarado-Baltazar, a citizen of Mexico illegally present in the United States was sentenced to 12 additional months in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting an assistant shift supervisor on July 5 in the prison in Telfair County. He was serving a 48-month sentence for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Luis Cedillo Narvarez, also a citizen of Mexico illegally in the United States, was charged with assaulting the Chief of Unit Management at McRae Correctional in December 2020. He has not entered a plea guilty and considered innocent unless proven guilty. He is serving a 180-month sentence for conspiracy to commit hostage taking.
In addition to the inmates recently charged, Brianna Williams, a correctional officer at McRae Correctional Facility, was recently sentenced to six months in prison followed by one year of supervised release and fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to carrying contraband in prison. She was charged in November 2020 after attempting to smuggle cell phone batteries into the facility.
