Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home announces the death of Reverend John Thomas Salem age 90 of Tampa, FL.  Who departed his life to be with his heavenly father on October 22, 2021.  He was born March 19, 1931 in Toombs County, GA  to the late Mr. Tom and Lillie Bell Salem. A man of God who was more kindhearted than most has now entered into the true realm of Glory were the Lord Jesus Christ is his host.  He has a new name and body that’s fit for a King, he now lives in a place where God’s praises will always ring.  He was a man of God loved by many and he cared about everyone.  When he came around, he brought, the Holy Spirit, The Father and The Son.  People would come from far and near just to hear God’s word flow from mouth. He would receive calls night and day for Rev. Salem to pray for the sick and shut in.  He was a man that was passionate about teaching his family and God’s people about the word of God.  He was one of the best prayer warriors I’ve ever seen in my life, he left a legacy of worship and praise that will live within us for the rest of our days.  The words that we should always remember are the words that he said when he prayed, “God’s Will Be Done”.

Rev. Salem served in the United States Army and participated in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged after his completion of service.  Mr. Salem was one of the best Cement Finishers in the world and retired from the Hillsborough County Sheriff Department.  His hobbies were fishing, family, playing rummy 500, cooking, making sweet potatoes pies, hog head cheese and biscuits.  He was a song writer he wrote “Move It Out” on The Miracle Sisters Latest CD Release (Relationships) and favorite songs was “It’s Another Day’s Journey I’m Glad About It” and “Well Done” by The Miracle Sisters his Daughter Shelia Williams and granddaughters, Shakayla Tucker and Shaleah Lewis.

Rev. Salem was a member of Alpha and Omega Church in Clearwater Florida where he spread God’s word around the world.   

Rev.  Salem was proceeded in death by his late loving wife Myrtice Salem of 58 years of marriage. Two sons the late Larry Salem and Late Randall Mincey (Maybell) A great grandson Landon Reddish and 13 siblings. 

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with his loving and devoted children. Shirley Bryant of Trenton, NJ, Tanya Starks, Lathorn Fowler & Sheron Gilley all of Tampa, Florida.  Pastor, Terry Salem (Connie) & Lillie (Eddie) Salem Smith of Omaha Nebraska.  His Baby Girl, Shelia (Charles) Williams Riverview, Florida.  Rev. Salem had 21 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.  2 brothers Harvey Salem, Wallace (Annie) Salem both of Lyons Ga. Two Sister-In-Laws Mary Salem, Lumber City, Ga and Lillie Mae Phillips, Vidalia, Ga.  One Brother-In-Law Deacon Benjamin (Francis) Phillips of Vidalia, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4 PM until 6 PM at Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home in Vidalia, GA.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM from the Sanctuary of Harvest Time Faith Center in Vidalia, GA. Bishop Bernard and Pastor Valentina Hill is the Pastors.  Bishop Vincent R. Drummer will deliver the eulogy.   Interment will follow in Mosleytown Cemetery in Tarrytown, GA.

Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Rev. John Thomas Salem.
