The Vidalia Lady Indians stretched their winning streak to five in a row with a 4-0 win over East Laurens Thursday in Vidalia.

Madison Starr got the win for the Lady Indians, going 7 innings and giving up just 3 hits while striking out 17 East Laurens hitters. After the game Coach, Ben Beck had some high praises for his Junior pitcher “Madison was excellent in the circle with the 17 ks. That’s a testament to the hard work she puts in day in and day out.”

Cristal Franklin led the way offensively with 2 hits, with Matlin Mead driving in 2 runs and Lydia Smith finishing with 1 RBI. “It was another important region win,” said Beck. “We were excited to give some opportunities to some players who had been performing well in practice and they came through with some timely hitting. Matlin Mead and Lydia Smith drove in some key runs and we also had a big contribution from Cristal Franklin, added Beck.”

With the win, the Lady Indians improve to 10-1 overall, and 5-1 in Region 2AA play and will travel to Jones County on Saturday to play in the GCSU Diamond Day, with two games on Saturday, at Noon (vs. Jones Co.) and 2:00 PM. (vs. West Laurens) before returning home on Tuesday to take on Bacon County in another 2AA contest beginning at 5:45.You can hear the game on News Talk WVOP-AM 970 & FM 105.3 and at southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
