Mrs. Dorothy June Scott “Sister June”, age 70 of the Beasley Community of Soperton entered into Heaven’s gates on Tuesday evening, July 27, 2021 at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, Ga., she was one of eleven children born at Home to the late Tommy Evans Beasley and Martha Missouri Smith Beasley. Sister June attended school in Treutlen County and married a childhood friend, Johnny Roy Scott, September 1, 1967. At an early age, she began a lifelong service to her Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and Pastor. She has always been affiliated with many churches to include area churches, Foursquare Pentecostal Holiness, Harvest Time Church at her old home place in the Beasley community and Soperton Holiness, where she pastored for 17 years, before becoming the Pastor at Hebron Holiness Church for the past eleven years. She mentored many aspiring ministers and coached many young and upcoming pastors into their first pulpits. Sister June enjoyed playing and singing gospel music and was often backed up by her husband, Mr. Johnny Roy Scott. Sister June possessed a calming and sympathetic spirit that allowed her to walk into any situation and bring a peaceful and calm setting.
For several years, she was a substitute teacher within the Treutlen County Public School System.
She enjoyed playing and singing gospel music, tending to her flowers, cooking for her family and friends, fishing, and was particularly fond of her two cats, Corn Field and Punk.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Janene Scott Stevens and an infant son, Steven Roy Scott.
Sister June leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Johnny Roy Scott, Soperton, GA, two daughters, Bonnie Holt (Lee), Dublin, GA, Amanda LaPoint (Patrick), Soperton, GA, a son in law, Terry Stevens, Soperton, GA, grandchildren, Justin Rigby, Gregory Rigby, Hannah Holt Bridges (Tyler), Lane Holt, Aaron LaPoint, Laurie June Simpson (Kevin), Augustus LaPoint, Kenny Roy Scott, T.J. Stevens and Blake Fisher (Kristen), five great grandchildren, Colton, Cason, McKassey, Kaydence and Kenlee as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 am until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 31, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Wood officiating.
Sister June will be laid to rest in the Beasley Cemetery, Corsey Grove Way off of Hwy. 221/56, Soperton, Ga.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 am until the hour of service.
