An issue at the polls Tuesday morning will not affect the hours of voting – as of 2:00, that is.
Toombs County Election Supervisor Carrie Alligood said a problem ensued this morning in the Runoff Election between Leesa Hagan and Wally Sapp when the poll pads malfunctioned. The problem with the machines at the precincts were corrected, but that took time.
Alligood said a request to extend the voting hours to compensate for the lost time was brought to the attention of Superior Court Judge Robert Reeves, but the Judge denied the request and as of 1:45, the polls in Toombs County will close at 7:00 p.m. as scheduled.
However, if a complaint is filed or anyone can produce pertinent information to Judge Reeves’ attention that would sway his opinion, he said he would be willing to listen.
Vidalia Communications/RadioJones will continue to monitor the reports and update as needed.
