Mr. Dennis H. Cowart, age 63 of Tarrytown passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 24, 2021 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta.

Born in Augusta, Georgia, he was one of four children born to the late Harry Dennis and Fannie Mae Logue Cowart.  Dennis and his siblings grew up on their grandfather’s homestead in the Zaidee Community. 

He attended school in Soperton and started working as a mechanic since an early age.  For the past twenty five years he has worked with Jerry Horne at M & S Garage in Soperton.   If it was broke, Dennis would work on it.

He leaves behind: siblings, Larry Dean Cowart (Kathleen), Uvalda, GA, Geraldine McCoy (James), Vidalia, GA, Ruby Jean Hutcheson (J.L. -deceased), Tarrytown, GA, children, Joey Cowart, Kingsland, GA, Dwayne Cowart, Jeremy Cowart, Rachel Cowart, Dublin, GA, Ida Tucker, Irwinton, GA, a step son, Joey Lastinger, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Wilkerson officiating. 

His family will receive friends on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 2:00 pm until the hour of service.

Dennis will be laid to rest in the Logue Cemetery, Soperton, Georgia.
