Mrs. Dorothy Sellers Sumner, age 74 of Soperton passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, June 9, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Montrose

Born in Higgston, GA, she was one of thirteen children born to the late Walter Clarence “W.C.” Sellers and Katie Pearl Durden Sellers.  She had lived in Vero Beach, Florida for a number of years before returning to her childhood roots in Soperton in the early 1970s. 

She was a member of Norristown Holiness Revival Center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Susie Graham, Earl Sellers, Dinky Sellers, Skeeter Sellers, Red Bone Sellers, Babe Sellers, Eloise Wingard, Annete Hester, Martha Wilhite Linda Johnson and a grandson, John Paul “J. P.” Wade, who passed away in 2014.

Mrs. Sumner leaves behind her four daughters, Karen Foskey (Jimmy), Soperton, GA, Sonya White (Dave), Rentz, GA, Tonya Adkins (Bill), Montrose, GA, Kim Ricks (J.J.), Soperton, GA, two sisters, Betty “Ranger” Thigpen (James), Rosie “Booboo” Durden, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Stafford officiating.

Mrs. Sumner will be laid to rest beside her siblings in Heath Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home or at her residence.
