Zeary Davis
A Toombs County man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for an incident that occurred in February 2019 at a Vidalia restaurant.
On February 23, 2019, Roderick Harvey, Jr., of Alamo and Rosanna Simpson of Vidalia were in the Vidalia Huddle House in the early morning hours when Zeary Devontae Davis confronted them. A verbal altercation continued into the parking lot and when Harvey and Simpson started to leave the restaurant, Davis fired upon the vehicle, striking Harvey, and causing him to lose control and colliding with a tree on Highway 280.
Harvey died from the gunfire and Simpson suffered serious injuries.
Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tripp Fitzner said Davis entered a guilty before Toombs County Superior Court Judge Robert Reeves and received a prison sentence of life with the possibility of parole for malice murder and 20 years for aggravated battery.
Byron Shinhoster
In an unrelated case, another Toombs County man is facing malice murder charges from a September 1, 2020 incident. Byron Terrell Shinhoster was indicted recently by the Toombs County Grand Jury after allegedly stabbing Gloria Rollins. Rollins died later from her injuries.
Shinhoster is charged with one count of malice murder, one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of false imprisonment and two counts of possession of a knife during the commissioner of a felony.,
