Banks Hopkins

RTCA’s lower school Student of the Month for April is fifth grader Banks Hopkins. Banks is the son of Chris and Marilynn Hopkins. He has one brother, Luke, who is in the first grade at RTCA.

Banks was selected by faculty because he is a hardworking student. He puts forth his best efforts in class while also being very involved in athletics. Being on multiple athletic teams can be very tiresome but he always manages to make sure his grades are where they need to be. Banks is a great leader amongst his classmates.

Banks’ favorite subject is math and his favorite color is blue. He enjoys playing basketball and baseball. He plays travel baseball as well as for RTCA’s Middle School baseball team. Banks was part of RTCA’s Middle School Region Championship team. He also loves to hunt, fish and ride 4-wheelers.

Savannah Moore

RTCA’s Middle School Student of the Month for Aprils is 8th grader Savannah Moore. Savannah is the daughter of Adam and Lindsey Moore. She has a younger brother named Anderson Moore who is in the 6th grade at RTCA. 

Savannah was chosen as Student of the Month because she is a student who works hard in her classes and always strives to improve. Savannah offers a kind word and a positive smile to everyone she meets. She encourages others and is a loyal and loving classmate. 

Savannah's favorite subject at RTCA is English with Ms. Scott. Savannah also enjoys playing basketball for RTCA's Girls Middle School team. Savannah loves her dog Stella and going to the beach. Her favorite times are when she is spending time with her family and friends.

Robert Toombs Christian Academy’s April Student of the Month is senior Nelson Thigpen. Nelson is the son of Paul and Lillian Thigpen. He has two younger sisters, Sarah and Eva. 

Nelson was selected by faculty because he displays a true desire to consistently improve in every aspect. Nelson was also just selected as RTCA’s 2021 STAR student. He is an accomplished student-athlete and is a leader and mentor within our school, particularly with our middle and elementary students. He is a kind and generous classmate who is always willing to help out in any way he can. 

He has participated in two years of varsity football and three years of varsity tennis. During the 2017-2018 football season his team played in the Region Championship and was awarded the GISA state runner-up. Nelson is a graduate of Vidalia Karate with a First Degree Black Belt. Nelson is a member of the National Honor Society and BETA Club. He was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” for his senior superlative. Nelson has maintained yearly Headmasters List and Honor Roll throughout his AP/ Honor classes. He is RTCA’s 2021 STAR Student. To obtain the 2021 STAR nomination, graduating high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Nelson is the Lyons LIONS Club Student of the month for March 2021. During the summer before his Junior year, he attended University of Georgia’s College of Pharmacy Dean Stuart Feldman Summer Science Institute. He received an honorable mention from Dr. Vivia Hill-Silcott and others for his leadership role in the summer program. During his Junior year, Nelson was nominated for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence. He was invited to attend the program in Boston, Massachusetts by Mario Capecchi, MD, Science Director and winner of 2007 Nobel Prize in Medicine. After graduation, Nelson will be attending Auburn University to pursue a degree in Business.
