Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Tonya Michelle Hodge of South Carolina, but a native of Vidalia, GA whose death occurred on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Orangeburg Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.
Tonya Michelle Hodge, daughter of Ms. Sarah Ann Eason was born on April 5th, 1964 in Vidalia, Georgia. She moved to Orangeburg, South Carolina with her family later in her life.
Michelle received her education through the Vidalia City School System. She was a proud member of the Class of 1982. She later attended Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia but completed her collegiate career at East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, Georgia where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nurses Degree.
She worked at Meadows Memorial Hospital and the Bethany Home simultaneously for many years. Helping others and being a mother was the highlight of her life.
Michelle joined the Solomon Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she learned to play the piano.
Michelle leaves to cherish her special friend, Mr. Willie “Frankie” Jones of Orangeburg, South Carolina; her children, Tiffany Hodge of Vidalia Georgia; Stephanie Hodge of Acworth, Georgia, and Gregory Hodge of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Her precious grandchildren, TeenaMarie Hughes, Bobby J, Hodge, Chloe Hodge, Nefretiri Dunn-Hodge, Natalie Dunn-Hodge, and a sweet bundle of joy on the way; her siblings, Charmaine Bell of Adrian Georgia; Tony Brown (Barbara) of Statesboro, Georgia; Tracy Brown of Vidalia, Georgia; Timmy Brown (Lesa) of Statesboro, Georgia; and Denise Scott (Greg) of Hinesville, Georgia. One brother preceded her in death.
She also leaves to cherish a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 2 PM until 6 PM at Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home in Vidalia, GA.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2021 at 12 noon from the parking lot of Solomon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia, GA. Pastor J. W. Calvin will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in McRae Cemetery in Mount Vernon, GA.
