Mrs. Virginia Hughes Poole, age 72, beloved wife of Jerry Poole of Soperton passed away on Monday afternoon, January 11, 2021, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.
Born in Baxley, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Willie Ina Decker Hughes. She grew up in Baxley until the family moved to Central Florida in the early 1960s. She married in the late 1960s and started a family with Bernard “Timer” Connell Nobles. They had two children and moved to Soperton in the early 1970s. She assisted her husband as the Bookkeeper for his business, Soperton Tile Company. While working with her husband, she also worked at First National Bank in Vidalia for a short time before joining The Bank of Soperton from where she retired.
In 1988 she married Soperton native, Jerry Poole and worked with his business J & J Wrecker Service.
A devout Christian, she set an example for her children of devotion to family and caring for others. She made her house a home to many and no one ever left without being offered a meal. She was an avid animal lover and longtime member of the Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Register Hughes and Vertie Mae Hughes, and a son, Jeremy Poole.
Mrs. Poole leaves behind her husband, Jerry Poole, Soperton, GA; son, Eddie Nobles (Regina), Soperton, GA; daughter, Nancy Sohn (Danny), Dublin, GA; grandchildren, Amber Richardson (Derek), Hayli Castro (Ross), Sydnee Nobles, Daniel Sohn, Camron Sohn; and great grandchildren, Eliza Richardson, Jordin Leal, Liam Castro, Jake Castro, and another little one on the way.
Mrs. Poole will be laid to rest privately at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from the graveside in Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.
