Mr. Gary Hurshman McLendon Sr., age 78 passed away at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Florida on Friday, January 1, 2021.

Born in Dublin, Georgia, he was one of four children born to Mary Lou Perdue McLendon Hall and the late Coney Hurshman McLendon.  As a young child, with his father’s work, his family moved to Brunswick before locating to Jacksonville, Florida.  Mr. McLendon grew up primarily in Jacksonville where he was a graduate of Ribault Senior High School.   In 1969, he and his wife, Bernice, moved to Shickshinny, PA where they resided for thirty six years.  In 2005 he and his wife moved to Lake City, Florida.

He was an avid collector of classic cars and enjoyed “tinkering” on anything that used a gasoline or diesel engine.

Mr. McLendon was a member of Sylvania Lodge No. 354 F. & A .M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies.

He and his wife are members of the Vineyard Baptist Church in Lake City, where Gary was an Elder.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by: a sister, Shelvia Jean Graham.

Mr. McLendon leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Bernice Wolfe McLendon, Lake City, FL, their children, Gary H. McLendon Jr. (Kimberly), Shickshinny, PA, Kari Stephens (Scott), Gainesville, FL, Jenni Bouchard (Gabe), St. Petersburg, FL, a brother, Carl McLendon (Sandra), Hilliard, FL, a sister, Mary Gail Seigfried (Larry), Shickshinny, PA, grandchildren, Madison Lynn McLendon,  Gary Matthew Edward McLendon, Mya Stephens, Olivia Stephens and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from the graveside in Red Bluff Cemetery with his pastor, Reverend Bo Hammock officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in his memory, to The Vineyard Church, P.O. Box 2191, Lake City, FL  32056
