In game two, the Lady Indians wasted little time securing their spot in the second round scoring 7 runs in the 2nd inning to lead 8-0 at the end of two. Madison Starr gave up just one run through  4 innings striking out 7 before Lamar was able to make some noise in the 5th inning with 2 runs before Matlin Mead closed out the game with a catch in short right field.

In the nightcap, The Lady Indians scattered 10 hits over the 5 innings, with Ashtyn Braddy leading the way going 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.

After the game, Coach Brad Thompson said that he was glad to get the first round behind them “we knew when Lamar came in that their first five-hit the ball as good as we have seen.”

Thompson went on to say that he was pleased with the way Holland pitched after giving up 2 early runs “outstanding pitching and poise in the circle with Bailey having an eventful first inning and then we responded by giving her a cushion and she settled in and pitched well the rest of the way.”

“We wanted to make sure we came out and carried the momentum from game one, and we did. And Starr looks as comfortable in the circle as I have ever seen her look”

With the big lead in both games, Thompson was able to get some younger players in, who gained some valuable playoff experience. It was good to see that we were able to reward some folks who had a good practice yesterday, including Emily Thompson who’s upside is something we are excited about.”

The Lady Indians now await the winner of the Jefferson County-Worth County Series, with the winner traveling to Vidalia on Thursday, for a best of three series for the right to move on to the GHSA State Quarterfinals.(Courtesy of Vidalia High School)  (Pictures By Carroll Williams)
