Bishop James Ernest Jones, age 68, of Mount Vernon died early Sunday morning, September 27, 2020 after an extended illness. Bishop Jones, a native of Alston, lived the last nineteen years of his life in Mount Vernon. He was Bishop and Founder of the Lord Jesus Christ Disciple Church in Mount Vernon.
Bishop Jones is survived by his loving wife, Joan Jones of Mount Vernon; two sons, James Jones of Las Vegas, NV and Alpha Jones of Roswell; three daughters, Princess Jones of Bridgeport, CT., Resa Jones of Las Vegas, NV., Samantha Jones of Dublin; one brother Willie Jones of New York; two sisters, Beverly Drinks of Higgston, and Mary Ann Montevo of Springfield, FL. Several grandchildren and great- grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Lord Jesus Christ Disciple Church in Mount Vernon on Saturday October 3, 2020 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a graveside service to follow immediately at Cobb Creek Cemetery near Vidalia with Rev. George Chane officiating. Interment will follow.
