May 15-- Mrs. Mary Josephine Byrne, age 81, of Vidalia died Wednesday May 13, 2020 at Summer’s Landing of Vidalia, under the care of Solace Hospice, after an extended illness. She was a native of Indiana, moved to Baxley in 1970, and settled in Vidalia in 1985.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Lyons Church of God of Prophecy.
Mrs. Byrne was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Gloria Bryne and six siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marvin Byrne of Vidalia; two sons, Richard Byrne of Lyons and Stuart Byrne (Lois) of Sylvania; two daughters, Glenda Hollis (Bryan) of Vidalia and Vanessa Byrne of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, Allen, Darin, Chris, Josh, Jessica, Hannah, Shelby and Devin; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Mike Poppell officiating. Interment will follow. Per government regulations, the 6-foot rule will be enforced.
