Recently RadioJones reported misinformation being shared on social media because the name of the municipality matches that of a local city. That has happened again, but this time, it’s a neighboring county in Georgia.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a 30-second video has been circulating online, but the video is not for the county in Georgia. The Jefferson County to which the video applies is in Alabama,
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia said there are 26 states that have a county named Jefferson, and asked that anyone who may have viewed the post for Jefferson County Alabama use restraints before sharing or reposting the video which apparently contains defamatory information as it is not pertinent for the area Sheriff’s Office.
