The Toombs County Grand Jury convened Monday and returned true bills on all the 8 cases presented to them by District Attorney Tripp Fitzner’s office.
Charges varied from drug and firearm possessions to burglaries and attempts to flee and elude law enforcement. But there were also crimes perpetrated against children including a woman charged with cruelty to children and another indictment against a man from February 2021. He was indicted on one count of rape, one count of aggravated sodomy, and two counts of incest.
Indictments are a matter of open records, but an indictment is not proof of guilt and those indicted are considered innocent until entering a plea or being convicted in a court of law.
