A Laurens County nurse will spend the rest of his life for killing his wife just shy of two months after the couple married.
WMAZ in Macon reports that Benjamin Whitaker of Dublin was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole Wednesday after a Morgan County Jury found him guilty. The trial had a change of venue after a previous jury in Laurens County couldn’t come to a unanimous decision and a mistrial was declared. Following that action, Whitaker’s attorneys said they couldn’t seat an impartial jury in his home county after that.
Whitaker was accused of shooting his wife Tiffani Scarborough in their Dublin home in June 2021. He was charged with felony murder, malice murder, and two counts of aggravated assault.
