It’s hard to believe, but the 49th Vidalia Onion Festival is just a couple of weeks away, and one of the most anticipated events is watching a professional demonstrate how to use the Vidalia onion in various ways and be entertaining at the same time. This year, that’s sure to be true as Skye Estroff will be headlining this year’s Vidalia’s Cooking Experience.

“I’m just so excited about hosting this event,” Skye said. “We are going to be preparing four dishes highlighting the Vidalia onion and everyone will be able to sample them at the end.”

Skye’s career has her based in Atlanta where she hosts various television shows at Fox 5, but she always likes to return to Vidalia her roots where she enjoys visiting with her grandparents Donald and Anita Estroff.

“On my shows in Atlanta, I always like to feature the Vidalia onion in my demonstrations,” she said. “I’m just an ‘Onion Girl,’ and everyone knows Vidalia onions are the best!”

The Cooking Experience with Skye Estroff will be held beginning at 6:00 Tuesday, April 21, in The Pal Theatre. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online at vidaliaonionfestival.com.

“We’ve got 300 tickets available,” Skye said, “and we want to fill up The Pal with lots of energy and good food.” She laughs and adds, “I’m bringing a lot of groceries and going to be doing a lot of cooking, and I don’t want to have to pack up any leftovers!”

She also hints that in addition to the sampling, there may be some surprises mixed in, and concludes, “It’s a great way to kick off the festival so…let’s go!”
