Southeastern Technical College provided the perfect venue for the SECCA FLEX Showcase. The Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneurship Experience (FLEX) is an entrepreneurship program for high school students that engages them in the business world through experiences and mentorships. Students in FLEX create real businesses, provide real products and services, and make real money. Local business partners, along with community leaders and teachers help to make this program a success, investing in the program through teaching workshops and mentoring student entrepreneurs. Students compete in three rounds of competition until a local winner is selected. Local FLEX champs then move on to the state-wide competition.
The SECCA FLEX Showcase featured pitches by Sarah Ellis Walker of SEWn, Carson Scott of Scott's Bait and Tackle, Jahmelia Reyes of Braided by Jah, and Lauryn McArthur of Creations by Lauryn, all of whom demonstrated commendable entrepreneurial skills. Each student's presentation showcased their ability to identify opportunities, develop products and services, build customer bases, and present their vision with confidence. Congratulations to FLEX Region Finalists! Sarah Ellis Walker was named SECCA Overall Winner and State Finalist. Region Finalists are: 1st Runner-Up: Carson Scott 2nd Runner-Up: Jahmelia Reyes 3rd Runner-Up: Lauryn McArthur. Congratulations, students, on a job well done!
