ERIN EVERETT
A former contractor with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was arrested last week and charged with two counts of crossing guard lines with intoxicants, and two counts of giving inmates prohibited items.
Johnson County Sheriff Greg Rowland said at the time of the arrest, Erin Everett, age 45, was employed as a contractor nurse at the Sheriff’s Office.
Everett’s arrest comes after the Criminal Investigation Division spent several months gathering evidence and conducting interviews related to the case.
Everett admitted to the offenses and was arrested without incident on February 20.
The investigation showed that for several months the former contractor brought THC vape pens and other prohibited items into the jail and gave those items to inmates.
The Sheriff said he was saddened to learn of the betrayal of trust and disregard for the safety of staff as well as those in the care of the officers at the jail, adding that the actions of one individual does not reflect the hard work and dedication of the many men and women who serve at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
