The Reidsville Police Department made an arrest early last Friday morning of a man thanks to the alertness of a neighbor’s vigilance.
The Reidsville Police Department reports that at 12:12, officers responded to a burglary call at a residence on Highway 56 Extension. The person calling told dispatchers that the residence was supposed to be unoccupied but that an unknown man had been seen entering the home.
Police made contact with the man at the residence and where they found a side-by-side ATC matching the description provided by the caller. He was identified as Jamie Tootle of Reidsville.
During the investigation, Tootle admitted to entering the residence without permission and consuming alcohol while operating the ATV. Further investigation determined that the ATV had been stolen from another residence and that a handgun was stored inside the vehicle that had also been stolen.
Tootle was arrested and charged with DUI Alcohol, theft by taking motor vehicle and firearm, which re felonies, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal trespass, and no license.
He was booked into the Tattnall County Detention Center.
