
Amidst heavy financial issues, Dublin City Schools Superintendent Dr. Fredrick Williams has announced his retirement from the system effective Friday, October 3.
In his resignation letter, Williams first expressed his appreciation to the staff and Board of Education and shared his pride in the system. He goes on to say that his decision was not an easy one to make, but that he believes it’s the right time to begin the next chapter in his life and spend more time with his family while exploring personal interests that that he’s set aside.
Williams has served as the superintendent for 10 years.
Williams’ retirement comes as the system if facing millions of dollars in budget shortfalls including potential insolvency, according to State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
At a Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Marcee Poole was named Interim Superintendent. Poole currently serves as the Director of curriculum for K – 8th grades with the Dublin City School System and previously served the Assistant Superintendent in Montgomery County.
