There are changes coming to the Swainsboro Policial leadership.
There are three candidates that qualified for the position of mayor during the Qualifying period last week:
For Mayor of Swainsboro - Johnny E. Tapley Jr, Shayna Boston, and Lillie Ann Brown
Current Mayor Greg Bennette did not run for re-election, posting on his Facebook page Friday his thanks to the people of Swainsboro for their support during his four years in office.
Even with only one competitive council race, there are still many changes coming.
In District 3 - Brad McKenzie, and K.E. McNeal
Will be running to replace long serving Johnny Ray Stafford.
In District 4- Tjuna Culbreth qualified to take the place of long serving council member Bobbie Collins.
In District 6- incumbent Gregory Quarterman will run unopposed.
Twin City had competition for both of it’s incumbent council members:
In City Commissioner Ward 1- Jule Bady Jr faces a challenge from James Ward.
And in City Commissioner Ward 2- Charles Lamar Moody will be challenged by John Allen Brown.
The two current council representatives in Stillmore, Kymberly Bowman and Susan P. Mincey did not draw any opposition, so they will save the money and not hold the election there. Elsewhere, the election is November 4th and you must be registered to vote by October 6th , 2025.
