The Metter Police Department says a man took advantage of the snow and ice storm Tuesday night and decided to attempt to enter in a few Metter citizens automobiles and even making entry into some of those. Once the perpetrator gained entry, he helped himself to items he found inside those vehicles.
Metter Chief of Police Rob Shore, Sergeant Johnny Carter, and Officer Jimmy Lennox were able to locate and arrest Carlton Benjamin Wednesday afternoon for the break-ins. Benjamin was charged with three counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Entering Automobile, Criminal Trespass, Loitering and Prowling, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
