Teamwork between the Johnson County and Emanuel County Sheriffs’ Offices resulted in the arrest of a Swainsboro man last week. A warrant was issued for Melvin “Shotgun” Holder on November 7 and he was charged with two counts of felony child molestation and one count of felony burglary.
The warrant was secured on Holder based on information obtained from a 12-year-old confidential victim and another 12-year-old witness and began being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Johnson County Sheriff’s office on October 28. The CID’s investigation revealed that on October 28, Holder entered the victim’s’ residence without permission at which time he held one of the young victims and then proceeded to sexually molest the other child.
Johnson County solicited the assistance from the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office on November 7, and it was Emanuel County that located and arrested Holder. He was transported to the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
This case remains under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Investigator Troy Fallin.
