After the counting of provision ballots in Toombs County from the November 4th election, it has been determined that in the race between incumbent Tracy Johnson and James Shell in Ward 1 was too close to declare a winner. That means there will be runoff for that seat only December 2, and absentee ballots are now being accepted. To request an absentee ballot log onto the Secretary of State’s website and click on the My Voter link under the Elections tab.
Toombs County Carey Alligood says it is best to fill out a ballot as soon as possible as the Toombs County Election Office has not set a date as to when they will mail out absentee ballots.
Only registered voters in that Ward can cast ballots in this runoff election.
