The Vidalia Indian Baseball team advanced to the Sweet 16 of the GHSA State Playoffs Saturday after taking the best 2 of 3 games series from Swainsboro.

Game 1

Vidalia fell to Swainsboro 13-12 on Friday on the final play of the game. Swainsboro was down 12-11 in the bottom of the twelfth inning when Peyton Mason doubled, scoring two runs.

The Indians collected 12 hits and Swainsboro had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

Vidalia opened the scoring in the third after Veer Patel singled, scoring two runs.

Swainsboro tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single by Brent Cox, and a fielder’s choice by Shane Gamiza.

A tag up by Cayden Nance gave Vidalia the lead, 9-8, in the top of the eighth.

Demetri Stanford doubled to center field, which helped Swainsboro tie the game at nine in the bottom of the eighth.

Vidalia Indians captured the lead, 12-9, in the top of the twelfth after Jackson Berry walked, Ryan Brantley walked, and Jake McCaw hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Swainsboro made the score 13-12 in the bottom of the twelfth after Cox singled, scoring one run, Dawson Stewart induced Jeffery Webb to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Mason doubled, scoring two runs.

Vidalia accumulated 12 hits in the game. Brantley went 3-for-6 at the plate to lead the Indians in hits. Berry and McCaw each drove in three runs. Patel and Henry Adams each collected multiple hits for Vidalia.

Game 2

Vidalia showed resilience in game 2 by bouncing back and winning 11-1 thanks in part to 10 runs in the fifth inning.

The Indians accumulated 13 hits in the game. Brantley went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Vidalia Indians in hits. Nance, Brantley, and Mimbs each drove in two runs.  Patel and Adams each collected multiple hits.

Patel led things off on the hill for Vidalia. The hurler surrendered one hit and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.

Game 3

the series came down to Game 3 on Saturday with the winner advancing and the loser going home.

Ian Moye drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Indians past Swainsboro 17-5.

Moye singled in the first scoring two, walked in the fourth scoring two, singled in the third scoring one, and tripled in the fifth scoring one.

Vidalia  jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Clay Mimbs singled, scoring one run, Ryan Brantley hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Moye singled, scoring two runs, and a dropped third strike scored one run.

The Indians added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Jake McCaw hit a sacrifice fly, Moye singled down the right field line, and Swainsboro committed an error, each scoring one run.

Vidalia added seven runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Jackson Berry singled, scoring one run, Brantley singled, scoring one run, Henry Adams grounded out, scoring one run, Moye drew a walk, scoring one run, and Veer Patel singled, scoring two runs..(Courtesy of Vidalia Athletics)
