On the morning of Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Soperton Police Department responded to reports of three vehicles which had been entering during the night. Several items were taken from the vehicles, including two handguns.

A cooperative investigation, led by the Soperton Police Department with the assistance of the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in the execution of a search warrant during the evening of December 5 at an address on Outlaw Avenue in Soperton. The warrant was executed by members of the Soperton Police Department and Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office. During a search of the residence, most of the items stolen from the vehicles were recovered, including both firearms.

As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Khamarion Richards of Vidalia was arrested and charged with three felony counts of entering an automobile in violation of O.C.G.A. 16-8-18. Richards also had an outstanding arrest warrant for Probation Violation out of Vidalia. Richards was booked into the Treutlen County Detention Center.

“I am thankful for the assistance of, and partnership with, Sheriff Tommy Corbin and the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office”, said Soperton Police Chief Brian Scott.

Scott goes on to say “It is important to remove valuables from your vehicles and to lock your doors. Don’t become an easy target for criminals."
