Once again, we’re happy to report we made more progress over the last week.
Distribution: The current distribution site for water, MREs, tarps, ICE, and more is being relocated to the old Road Department, 326 West Broad Street, Mt Vernon, GA 30445, times for distribution will be announced soon. For donation and volunteer needs please contact, Katy Galbreath at 912-246-1917.
County Offices: County Offices are starting to open slowly as power, phones, and internet is restored.
Solid Waste Sites: All Solid waste sites are currently open from 9AM-6PM until Saturday, October 12, 2024. We accept household garbage only at this time.
Curbside Debris Clean-Up Moving Forward: All debris can be staged by the road 2 ft away from the white line, 10ft away from light poles, and please do not block roadways or driveways. A debris removal company will come by and remove, please be patient this will take some time. Please separate Vegetation (ex: trees, limbs) and Construction & Debris Materials (ex: building materials) in different.
Crisis Cleanup Hotline – Call Now: Save and share the number; it’s 844-965-1386. This hotline is essential for reporting storm-related damage in our area, and we need your help in spreading the word! Calling the hotline helps fast-track the arrival of volunteer groups to our county. These volunteers bring the tools and expertise to assist with mucking out homes, clearing debris, removing fallen trees, and getting the debris to the roadside. Please call, and make sure your neighbors know.
Update: Our efforts to clear Montgomery County's roads have been successful, with around 98% already made passable. Our road crews and volunteers have worked tirelessly to make sure all roads are passable, and everyone is able to get out.
Burn Ban: A burn ban (no burning of debris, due to lack of water for firefighting) is still in effect for Montgomery County and all municipalities until October 18, 2024Organization.
Support: Thank you again to our Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, all Municipalities, Road Crews, Montgomery County Sheriff Department, Volunteer Fire Departments, Prison Fire, Georgia Forestry Commission, Montgomery County Board of Education and Schools, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Defense, Army National Guard, Brewton-Parker College, numerous churches and volunteers. . We will be forever grateful for everything you have done.
