Toombs County Election Supervisor Carey Alligood has an important message about absentee ballots.
"The Toombs County Board of Elections started mailing absentee ballots on 04/22/2024. We are getting calls from individuals whose ballot was mailed on 04/22/2024 but still has not received it. If you are concerned about not receiving your absentee ballot in time, you can come to our office, sign a cancellation form and vote early here. So there is no way for someone to vote that ballot or have it counted. Our system will only allow one ballot number per voter. That's why you have to fill out the cancellation form before voting in the office," said Alligood.
"Early voting is going on now until 05/17/2024. We are happy to assist you in any way we can, but we have no control over the mail. If you have questions or concerns please contact the voter registration office," Alligood added.
