Mr. Leo Harry Johnson, age 91 of Dublin passed away on Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024 at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Center in Dublin.

Born in Laurens County, he was one of six and the last living child born to the late Leo Johnson and Rebecca Young Johnson.  He grew up in Laurens County where he was a graduate of Condor High School.  In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict.  Upon being honorably discharged he returned home and worked at the Georgia Plywood Mill in Dublin until joining J. P. Stevens Forstman’s Woolen Mill where he worked as a Machine Operator until retiring in 1996.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing mechanic work.

Mr. Johnson had been a member of Blackville Church of God for over thirty years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his siblings, Lizella Hightower, Avis Foskey, Evelyn Pike, Quinton Johnson, J. D. Johnson and a grandson, Rocky Johnson.

Mr. Johnson leaves behind, his children, Alvin Leo Johnson (Nancy), Calhoun, GA, Uvonna Johnson, Alpharetta, GA, grandchildren, Amanda “Mandy” Davis (Duane), Ray Tillery, Ellie Tillery, Wendy Tillery, Dusty Johnson, several great grandchildren, including Mason and McKenna Davis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, Georgia with Barry Knapp officiating.   

Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Dublin, Georgia

His family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Clay Young, Fred Young, Dan Young, Carnage Young, Matthew Young and Chris Young.
