The driver of the vehicle that wrecked and claimed two young lives in the early hours of March 9th has been charged with their deaths.

Eighteen-year-old Lauren Wilcher was driving her Dodge Charger just after midnight on Highway 130 in Vidalia when the vehicle left the road and struck a pine tree. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

Brooke Williamson, 18, of Oak Park, and Kyle Jackson, 19, of Vidalia were pronounced deceased at the scene and Wilcher and the other occupant in the vehicle, Caleb Howell, were in serious condition and transferred from the local hospital to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Wilcher was booked into the Toombs County Detention Center last Friday and released the same day. She is charged with speeding, reckless driving, alcohol DUI under the age of 21, failure to maintain lane, serious injury by vehicle, and two counts of homicide by vehicle.
