One Tuesday night, both the JV and Varsity men’s basketball teams of Toombs County were victorious over the Dublin Fighting Irish. The JV team set the tone with an exhilarating 56-46 overtime victory. Despite trailing by 12 points in the second half, they staged a remarkable comeback, culminating in Deon Moore’s game-tying three-pointer with just 2.4 seconds remaining, propelling the game into overtime. In the extra period, the JV Dogs dominated Dublin, outscoring them by 10.

Zaylen Davis led the JV team’s scoring effort with 18 points, while Don Mincey and Amari Eason each contributed 5 points, playing pivotal roles in the team’s success.

The Varsity Dogs continued their winning ways with another display of strong defensive play. They began the game with an overwhelming 15-0 lead in the first quarter, extending it to 17-0 early in the second, and never looked back. This impressive start set the stage for a comfortable 58-36 victory, advancing their season record to 6-1.

Dominic Eason was the top scorer for the Varsity Dogs with 18 points. Jesus Quintero followed with 12 points, while Mike Polke and Marion James each added 8 points. Juju Cutler contributed 6 points and led the rebounding with 11 boards. Eason also had a notable 10 rebounds, with James grabbing 8, Parker Stanley 6, and Gavin Fletcher 5. Quintero led the team with 3 assists, and both he and Eason each had 3 steals. Eason also impressed with 2 blocks.

The teams are set to return to their home court on Saturday against Jeff Davis. The JV game is scheduled for 12:00 noon, followed by the Varsity Women at 1:30 PM, and the Varsity Men’s game around 3:00 PM.
