12 4 23 VHS SB GACA

Last Tuesday, Tymber Harris (Ga. Tech) and Emma Humphrey (ABAC) signed to play college softball before their family, teammates, and friends. On Friday, they and two teammates were named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State Team.

Harris was named the AA State Pitcher of the Year, joining Humphrey, Senior Emma Vinson, and Freshman standout Deidra Boston on the GACA 1st Team.

“I’m very proud of these 4 young ladies,” said Vidalia High School Head Coach Ben Beck. “Being chosen by the GACA shows that the hard work and great season that they had is celebrated not only by us, but also by other coaches around the state,” Beck added.

The four were part of this year’s Region 3AA Championship Team, who finished with a record of 23-9 while making the GHSA Final Four in Columbus.

Harris, a three-time member of the GACA All-State Team, was also the Region 3AA Pitcher of the Year and ended her career with a 40-19 record and holds the school record for innings pitched with 370.1, as well as the school record for strikeouts with 680. This season, she had a 23-7 record and also recorded a record 340 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.995.

Humphrey, who set the Freshman Homerun record in 2020, was this year’s 3AA Player of the Year. Her 12 Homeruns tied a single-season record for Vidalia High School and ended the year with a .385 average with six doubles and 46 RBIs. This year’s selection to the GACA Team is her second, with her first coming in her sophomore year.

Senior Emma Vinson, who played her first year behind the plate as the Lady Indian’s starting catcher, finished the year with a .385 average, with 2 HR and 33 RBI.

Boston, a Freshman, led the team with a .422 average with two home runs and stole 29 bases while batting leadoff most of the year.
