Mr. Tommy Spoto, age 85, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his home, following an extended illness. He was a native of Tampa, Florida and was a 1956 graduate of Jefferson High School in Tampa. He moved to Toombs County in the early 1960s and earned an Associate degree from Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon. He worked as a salesman for Georgia Tire in Vidalia for many years. He served in the Army National Guard in Lyons for twenty-two years, of which four of those years were fulltime, retiring as Sergeant first Class. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia serving as church pianist for twenty-five years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Versatile Band for several years, and the Vidalia Bowling Association where he was later inducted into Vidalia Bowling Hall of Fame. Preceding him in death was a son, David Wayne Spoto; parents, Joseph Spoto and Mary Ida Pellegrino Spoto; and sister, Mary Ann Spoto.
His family includes his wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara Spoto of Bethlehem; two sons, Eric Spoto and wife Sheila of Dacula, and Craig Spoto of Elberton; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Spoto and Bella Spoto of Dacula.
A rosary service will be Tuesday afternoon, September 26th, at 5:15 at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with the family receiving friends immediately following until 7:00.
A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday morning, September 27th, at 11:00 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Deacon Joe Claroni officiating.
